Four high school seniors from the Lake Travis area will attend college in the fall with the help of scholarships from the Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library.
“We had a great group of teens this year with incredibly varied interests,” Teen Volunteer Coordinator Beth Yoder said. “We know these students will make a big impact, in their areas of study and on the world.”
The scholarship winners attended two area high schools and have each volunteered at least 75 hours at the library. From Lake Travis High School, Lane Dent will attend Texas State University and major in English with a concentration on creative writing. Her hope is to become an author. Charles Murphy will attend Texas A&M and plans to double major in computer science and Japanese. Disha Sharma will attend UT to study business and law. She hopes to become a lawyer. Lacie Horton, from Vandegrift High School, will attend Texas A&M to pursue environmental engineering.
Since 2007, the Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library have awarded more than $90,000 in scholarships to teen volunteers. Congratulations and best wishes to these exceptional graduates!
