Volunteer

Teens volunteers age 13 and older commit to weekly two or three-hour shifts. Students work directly with patrons and staff by shelving, organizing, assisting with duties at the circulation desk, and working on special projects. Volunteers should have a mature attitude and be responsible, dependable, and able to work independently. The volunteer program offers students a fun way to complete community service hours and the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship their senior year. If you have any questions, please visit the library or contact Teen Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Woicyk at [email protected] or (512) 263-2885.

There are 3 volunteer sessions each year:

Summer Session

May 26 through August 8, 2026. Applications for the summer session will be available from April 1 through 30.

Fall Session

August 17 through December 19, 2026. Applications will be available in July 2026.

Spring Session

January 4 through May 22, 2027. Applications will be available in December 2026.

Service Scholarship

Every year, the Friends of the Library offers scholarships to graduating senior teen volunteers. Service scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who have volunteered a minimum of 75 hours at the library and who are planning to continue their education. Scholarship applications become available at the beginning of January and are due April 1st. If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact Michelle Woicyk, Teen Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected].
