Volunteer Program

Volunteer at the Library

The library is always in need of volunteers! Please read about our programs below. If you have any questions or would like to apply for a position, please stop by the library or contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Wilson, at dwilson@laketravislibrary.org or (512) 263-2885.

Adult Volunteers

Circulation desk volunteers work in weekly two to three hour shifts assisting the staff with library tasks, including shelving books and checking books in and out for patrons. If you are not able to volunteer on a regular basis, there are other opportunities available. If you would like to help with children’s story times, plan special events, work in the butterfly garden, process books, or help with special programs, please contact us! Fill out the Volunteer Application Form and submit in person or by email if you are interested. As a volunteer, you are automatically considered a Friend of the Library, so see the Friends of the Library page for more information.

Teen Volunteers

The library is always in need of volunteers! Students age 13 and older commit to weekly two to three hour shifts. Teens work directly with patrons and staff by shelving, organizing, assisting with duties at the circulation desk, and working on special projects. The volunteer program offers students a fun way to complete community service hours and the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship their senior year.

The school year volunteer program follows the Lake Travis Independent School District academic calendar year. The school year application is available online and in the library beginning July 1st and are due August 1st.

The summer volunteer program follows the Lake Travis Independent School District summer break. The summer application is available online and in the library beginning March 15th and are due May 1st.
