Volunteer Program

Volunteer at the Library

The library is always in need of volunteers! Please read about our programs below.

Adult Volunteers

Circulation desk volunteers assist staff with library tasks, including shelving books and checking books in and out for patrons. Other volunteer opportunities include helping as a technology coach, planning special events, working in the butterfly garden, processing books, or helping with special programs. We ask that volunteers commit to a weekly two or three hour shift and at least six months of service. Please complete the Volunteer Application Form and we will be sure to find the right position for you. If you have any questions please stop by the library or contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Danielle Wilson, at dwilson@laketravislibrary.org or (512) 263-2885. As a volunteer you are automatically considered a Friend of the Library; please visit the Friends of the Library page for more information.

Teen Volunteers

Students age 13 and older commit to weekly two or three hour shifts. Teens work directly with patrons and staff by shelving, organizing, assisting with duties at the circulation desk, and working on special projects. The volunteer program offers students a fun way to complete community service hours and the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship their senior year. If you have any questions, please visit the library or contact Assistant Volunteer Coordinator Beth Yoder at byoder@laketravislibrary.org or (512) 263-2885.

The school year volunteer program follows the Lake Travis Independent School District academic calendar year. School year applications are available online beginning July 1st and are due July 31st.

The summer volunteer program follows the Lake Travis Independent School District summer break. Summer applications are available online beginning March 15th and are due April 30th.
