Friends of the Library

Become a Friend of the Library!

Help support the library by joining the Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library! The Friends contribute to the library through book sales, volunteer work, maintaining the butterfly garden, and financial contributions.  If you are interested in helping with the Friends Bookstore or serving on another committee, please complete a Volunteer Application.

One of the Friends’ special projects is supporting teen service scholarships. Each year the Friends of the Library award scholarships to one or more graduating teen volunteers planning to continue their education. For more information, please see the Teen Page.

Friends of the Library Bookstore

A labor of love, the bookstore is staffed entirely by volunteers from the Friends of the Lake Travis Community Library. All proceeds from the bookstore fund Friends of the Library projects, so when you shop you are supporting the library and getting a great bargain at the same time!  Noteworthy projects include a scholarship program, which awards financial assistance to teen volunteers who are continuing their education and initiatives like the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge which granted a total of $1,000 to local food banks.

For your convenience, the bookstore accepts payment by cash and Venmo.

The bookstore accepts book donations any time the library is open. They do not accept Reader’s Digests or encyclopedias and ask that all donations be in good condition.

If you are interested in helping with the Friends Bookstore, please complete a Volunteer Application.

Books for Babies

The Friends of the Library sponsor a unique literacy program in collaboration with Baylor Scott and White of Lakeway for local Lake Travis families, Books for Babies. The program gifts new parents from the Labor and Delivery unit a new board book, a note of congratulations, and information about the library to encourage a lifelong love of learning and reading.

Calling All Artists

The Friends of the Library sponsor an ongoing rotating art exhibit. Local artists interested in being a part of this program should pick up a packet containing the policy and application form at the library.
