At this time, all children’s programs are held at the Lakeway location unless stated otherwise.

Bow Wow Reading
Lakeway – First Monday of the Month from 4:30pm to 5:30pm
Lakeway – First Saturday of the Month from 10:30am to 11:30am
In partnership with Divine Canines, Bow Wow Reading gives children the opportunity to practice reading to a certified therapy dog! Readers are given a 15-minute private session to practice in a calm and non-judgemental environment.
Please register in advance via the sign-up sheet in the Lakeway children’s room.
Preschool Story Time
Lakeway – Mondays at 10:30am
Preschool aged children are invited to our Monday morning story times! Stop by to enjoy stories, fingerplays and songs in the library’s meeting room.
PJ Story Time
Lakeway – Tuesdays at 6pm
Wear your pajamas and snuggle in for an all-ages evening story time with Youth Services Librarian Ms. Nicholle!
Baby Story Time
Lakeway – Wednesdays at 10:30am
This story time is designed for our youngest library users. Join us for stories, fingerplays, poems, and songs in the library’s meeting room!
Story Time at Sweetwater
Alternating Thursdays at 10am
Join library staff member Krista Byrd (with special guest Genie and her puppet Rags) for an all-ages story time at the Sweetwater Clubhouse (17921 Sweetwater Club Circle, Austin, TX 78738) and a visit from the bookmobile! Please see the bookmobile calendar for more information.
Story Time at Briarcliff
Fridays at 10am
All ages are invited to the Briarcliff Community Center (22801 Briarcliff Drive Briarcliff, TX 78669) on Fridays at 10am for in-person songs and stories with Library Director Morgan McMillian – the bookmobile will visit, too!
STEAM Programs
The library offers a variety of programs, such as Lego Robotics and STEAM Lab, to introduce children to the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Please see the online program calendar for upcoming STEAM programs.
Take and Make Crafts

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Enjoy reading 1,000 books together to help your little one prepare for Kindergarten! Children who are read to from birth have a larger vocabulary, higher rates of academic success, and are more likely to become lifelong learners and readers. Reading together provides a great opportunity for bonding and memory-making. Record each book you and your newborn, infant, or toddler read together on a paper log (yes, repeats count!) and come to the library to claim your prizes!
