November Artist: Penny Jamrack

The Lake Travis Community Library will display the watercolor and acrylic paintings of Penny Jamrack during the month of November. Originally from England, Penny moved to Texas in 1977 and took a technical software position with Motorola. After retiring in 1997, she began to concentrate on her creative interests, especially painting and traveling.

In retirement, Penny studied art with accomplished professional artists and teachers at the Fremantle Arts Centre in Australia and the Austin Museum of Art. Influenced by nature and the natural beauty of plants, birds, and animals, she creates watercolor and acrylic paintings, as well as jewelry and mosaics.

“I am inspired by the varied landscapes from my travel experiences, including the rich desert colors of the Kimberley region of Western Australia, Rocky Mountain vistas, and magnificent sunsets over the Texas Hill Country,” said Penny.

In Austin, Penny paints with the Lakeway Painters group and when she is in Bozeman, Montana, she paints with the Southwest Montana Arts. She has exhibited her artwork locally at Café Lago in Lakeway, Lake Travis Community Library, The Hills Country Club, and Hops and Thyme restaurant. In Bozeman, Montana Penny recently won a “Best of Show” award in the 2024 Big Sky Country State Fair for her portrait of Shawnee warrior chief Tecumseh.

Penny Jamrack’s paintings will be on display in the library meeting room starting November 2 through November 30. The community is invited to her art reception on Saturday, November 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and an art demonstration on Tuesday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. To see more of Penny’s work, please visit her website at AustinNaturalJewelry.com.
