We are thrilled to highlight one of the friendliest Friends of the Library Bookstore volunteers – Pat Carr! Read on to learn more about Pat:
Where are you from?
I’m from Houston and retirement brought my husband and I to the Hill Country – first to Canyon Lake and then to Lakeway.
Could you tell us about your family?
I have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love to travel, visit small towns around Texas, and shop!
What did you do before retiring?
I was a flight attendant for several years. Then I spent many years doing social work, in both hospitals and schools.
What’s your favorite thing about volunteering in the bookstore?
Being with all the books is like being with friends. I also enjoy getting to meet new people and getting a break from my regular routine.
What do you like to read?
I like to read nonfiction and historical fiction, especially about the lives of famous people. Two books that have stuck with me are The Paris Wife by Paula McLain and Educated by Tara Westover.
We invite you to stop by the Friends Bookstore in Lakeway to say “Hello!” and “Thank you!” to Pat for her hard work and dedication to this library!
