Teen Programs

Teen Art Contest

Students in grades 6 through 12 are invited to enter our Teen Art Contest! To participate, students are asked to create an original piece of art inspired by their personal reading experiences. Winners will receive a cash prize from the Friends of the Library and a selection of entries will be displayed in the library’s meeting room during the month of December. Entries are due by November 3rd and must be submitted to the Lakeway location. For additional information and to apply, please view the Teen Art Contest entry form.

Volunteer

Teens volunteers age 13 and older commit to weekly two or three hour shifts. Students work directly with patrons and staff by shelving, organizing, assisting with duties at the circulation desk, and working on special projects. Volunteers should have a mature attitude and be responsible, dependable, and able to work independently. The volunteer program offers students a fun way to complete community service hours and the opportunity to be awarded a scholarship their senior year. If you have any questions, please visit the library or contact Teen Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Woicyk at [email protected] or (512) 263-2885.

There are 3 volunteer sessions each year.

Fall Session – August 11 through December 20, 2025. Applications for the fall session are closed.

Spring Session – January 5 through May 23, 2026. Applications for the spring session will be available December 1 through 15.

Summer Session – May 26 through August 9, 2025. Applications for the summer session are closed.
