For years, any time we have a sports injury, soft tissue injury, bone injury, or any aches and pains, the recommendation has been to either R.I.C.E (rest – ice – compression – elevation) or “take some ibuprofen and ice it.” But what if resting, icing, and ingesting anti-inflammatories are actually handicapping our natural healing processes and prolonging the time for healing and return back to our normal activities? Many of the mechanisms in which icing works handcuffs our body’s ability to heal by preventing initial cells from getting to the site of injury. When this happens, it prevents our body from progressing into its next stages of tissue repair that are essential for allowing our tissues to rebuild back to the structure that they were prior to injury. Our goal in this webinar is to look at the physiology of healing to help you to make the best decision on what is the best way to heal your body. Workshop presented by Body Balance Physical Therapy.
