Join us on the second Thursday of the month as expert speakers present on various topics relating to politics, economics, society, and culture.

On January 13th, UT Clements Center Senior National Security Fellow Dr. Mark Pomar will examine the role of Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty during the August 1991 Soviet putsch that brought about the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the successful end of the Cold War. Now, 30 years later, another Cold War with Russia and China is on the horizon.

Pomar has a PhD in Russian Studies from Columbia University and a BA from Tufts University. He is currently working on a book about international broadcasting, covering the policies and practice of the Reagan and Bush administrations.
