About the Bookmobile

Take an introductory tour of the bookmobile

The bookmobile is a mobile library with books, audiobooks, movies, and TV shows for children and adults, making stops at different locations throughout our library district. The bookmobile visits preschools, assisted living facilities, neighborhoods, RV Parks, and food pantries. Patrons can request library materials for pickup on the bookmobile by choosing “bookmobile” as the pickup location when reserving online. When the item becomes available it is available for pickup at most bookmobile stops. Check out items on the bookmobile and return them at the bookmobile or the library. The bookmobile also provides WiFi, printing services, and computer workstations and is open for browsing during story times.

Sign up for a free library card on the bookmobile! A library account provides you access to a variety of digital resources, such as the digital library, Mango Languages, Kanopy video streaming, and TexShare databases. All you need is valid proof of Texas residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill.

The bookmobile provides library services to people in the library district who are unserved or underserved due to physical, economic, social, geographic, or other barriers. One of the goals of the bookmobile is to provide information to people of all ages and abilities for their recreation, education, and lifelong learning.

Notes for Visiting the Bookmobile

- Bookmobile stops may be canceled at any time. We ask patrons to check the outreach calendar.
- Bookmobile reservations: Please reserve items in the library catalog a minimum of 2-3 days before your stop and request pickup at the bookmobile. Only items for which you have received notification that they are available will be on the bookmobile.
- Curbside pickup and return can be available anytime at the bookmobile by calling or texting (512) 809-5800.
- The bookmobile is also a WiFi hotspot.
- We will only be able to help one family at a time, so your patience is appreciated.

Curbside procedure

- Please walk up, call, or text the bookmobile phone at (512) 809-5800 when you arrive at the stop.
- Returns can be handed to the staff member at the bookmobile.
- Reserves can be checked out and placed on a table outside the bookmobile.

Picking up reserves at the main library in Lakeway

Any bookmobile reserves are available at the main library in Lakeway whenever the bookmobile is parked in the parking lot (and not out at a stop). If you would like to pick up your reserves at the main library when the bookmobile is at a stop, please email [email protected], call, or text (512) 809-5800 or contact the main library.
